The other week we went to Silver Falls State Park. Once again I was completely amazed at the wealth of natural beauty Oregon has to offer. We were barely 20 minutes out of the city when the landscape changed immediately to beautiful rolling farmland with a view of Mt Hood . We went on the Trail of Ten Falls, which as you may have guessed, has ten different waterfalls on it. We hit seven of the ten, and it was amazing. The weather was perfect and it was amazing to walk around this park. I didn't even know there were that many shades of green to be found in one place! It is incredibly cheesy but it really was this serene, perfect day just wandering in the woods and ogling how beautiful this state is. Everything just seems so much more alive and vibrant than anything in Alabama ever did.
Also, I am nearing the end of my "trial service" at Powell's, and I am eager to get past that whole part where they can fire me for no reason stage. Its kind of scary with the economy as it is to not have job security. Guess who's the first to go when you need to cut back? The new guy.
I'm pretty sure I'm safe though. The good thing about the airport Powell's is that there's not a huge staff, so there's not really room for staff cuts.
Kristen King came and visited on her fall break. It was great to see her, and it was so great to have a familiar face here. The best thing about an old friendship is feeling it pick up right where it left off. It doesn't matter that you haven't seen each other in months or even years. It makes me feel better about moving, the hope that when I see the people I love again, we will just pick right back up.

Hey Patrick, it's Jenny. I found your blogspot via facebook.
Anyway, on to my actual comment: I think that the best friendships are the kind where you can pick back up where you left off. Life can take people far away from you in distance, but not emotionally. There's hope in that. Also, glad to hear that Oregon is treating you well!
